1891 census has James Purdie working on the eastern outskirts of Dumfries and this census included son David and daughter Mary at Chatarinefield.

The only stories that have come down to me mention Agnes Lindsay Purdie taking my late aunts to visit her sons ,Robert and Wullie, pre WW1,to farms in Dumfriesshire in Thornhill and Lockarbriggs areas. Lochmaben was also mentioned. My sister used to visit relatives in Selkirk-Scott/Purdie family. The only one I remember is Grace Scott who used to visit my Aunt Nancy in Armadale. The last time I saw Grace was when she took our Science class when she was on teaching practice in early 60s. The farm at Cobbinshaw, West Lothian is to the south-west of West Calder near Cobbinshaw Loch.
